Getting Starting in business for yourself is one of the most exciting things you can do in your life. Sometimes at the start you may feel as though you are stepping out on the water and you are going to sink fast but if you persevere it can be worth it.
Expectations are an interesting thing and a good question to ask is : "what should my expectation be?"
When trying to figure this out, remember that Rome was not built in a day.
What should your first expectation be?
So when you get started your first expectation should be, is that there will be some changes required in your life generally the first ones are: learning a new skill and better time management as when you first start your work from home business it is generally part time.
Try and get some wins under your belt quickly. If the business you are involved with, like Network Marketing, has a system and/or Personal Coaching program then follow it to the letter. These have been put together by people with experience and have your best interest in mind. If you are not in one of these industries then look for something that could work for you. There are many Personal Business Coaches out there, however it is hard to find a good one. Some even wake up one day after being an employee all their lives and go into business training other people how to build successful businesses.
So check their credentials and ask for references.
Manage your Expectation
Expectation is a great thing, it allows you to dream and think of a better tomorrow, however it can also be a bad thing if you do not manage it.
If you are a person like me, I get quite excited when things are looking good and I tend to get on a real high. Unfortunately this means I have a lot of highs and lows. Yes I believe you should be expecting the best but try not to live out of your emotions (yes I am speaking to myself here as well). Expect that when you get into business that you will succeed and have some major wins but also remember there will be some lows. These will be the days that you feel like throwing it all in, however take it from me, after 10 years of working from home and being in a successful business, it is all WORTH IT.
Why is it worth it?
Do you remember when you were a child? You used to dream of all the great things you were going to do, own a fast car, build your dream home, help a charity in a far off country or travel the world. What about your family? You may have thought as a husband, I will provide for them and my wife will never have to work and my children will be able to see the world and go to the best schools. Or as a Mum/Mom (for our friends in the USA) you may have believed that you would have your dream home filled with laughter and joy, then reality hit and you had to put those dreams aside. You got beaten into submission. People started to tell you to stop dreaming and get back into reality, go to work as you could never live that type of life, you will never have a business of your own...
Well I am here to tell you something...It is worth it. In the last 10 years we have helped more people get into their first home, buy that car they have always dreamed of. more people then I can count have had to get passports because of the international travel they are now doing and many charities and churches are benefiting from the generosity of the people that now work at home and have freedom.
So what now
All I can say is: get into business for yourself and do it fast.
As interest climb and job security continues to plummet now is the time to be supplementing your income and taking control of your life.
Even in this down time in traditional business, next week I am about to take my family of four to the USA for 10 days. We will spend 3 days at Disney Land and then go to Dallas, Texas for an international Convention.
You see if you get into business with the right people or company you can have the life of your dreams.
